The CBC Quarterly Membership Meetings bring together members of Concerned Black Citizens of Beloit to share updates, review ongoing initiatives, conduct organizational business, and plan future work. These meetings strengthen accountability,
encourage member engagement, and ensure that the voice and vision of the community guide the direction of the organization.
CBC Black Town Hall Meetings provide an open, public space for Black residents to discuss community concerns, hear from local leaders, and collectively address issues affecting Black life in Beloit. These gatherings center community voices, promote civic awareness, and foster dialogue that leads to informed action and advocacy.
The CBC Annual MLK Commemoration honors the life, legacy, and moral vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through reflection, education, and community engagement. This event renews the call to justice, equality, and service, while challenging the community to continue the work of building a more just and inclusive Beloit.
The CBC Annual Spring Festival, named in honor of Mr. Floyd L. Sandlin, is a family-centered celebration that highlights Black culture, creativity, and community togetherness. Mr. Sandlin was a long-time resident of Beloit, a devoted member of the Concerned Black Citizens of Beloit, and a beloved community servant who faithfully hosted an annual Easter egg hunt for the children and families of Beloit. Named in his honor after his passing in 2023, the Spring festival continues his legacy through music, food, youth activities, and local vendors, creating a welcoming space for connection, joy, and visibility while strengthening community bonds.
The CBC Annual Black Dollar Days is an economic empowerment initiative that encourages intentional support of Black-owned businesses. Through promotion, partnerships, and community participation, the event emphasizes collective buying power and the importance of circulating dollars within the Black community to support growth and sustainability.
The Annual Organization Meeting of the Concerned Black Citizens of Beloit is held each November to provide a clear and transparent overview of the organization’s work during the past fiscal year. During this meeting, leadership presents comprehensive reports on the organization’s structure, programs, major events, and financial activity, giving members and community stakeholders an opportunity to review progress, celebrate accomplishments, and understand how resources have been used. The meeting also serves as a time for accountability, reflection, and preparation for the year ahead.
